Cookies and Cream Ice Cream is an ice cream flavour that is made of vanilla ice cream along with spots of chocolate pieces inside it. It is commonly referred to as the "King Kong of Ice Cream" because of its sudden popularity as soon as it was on the market. It has also been one of the top 5 flavours of ice cream since 1983. It is unsure who invented the ice cream.
- 1 pack of Oreo cookies
- 25 fl oz single cream
- 5 1/3 oz caster sugar
- 5 median egg yolks
- Put the Oreo cookies in a plastic bag crush them up.
- Separate 5 eggs, keeping the yolks in a small bowl and throw away the whites. Whisk them all together until they are completely beaten. Now, mix the egg yolks in a saucepan with 3 cups of half and half and 3/4 cups of superfine sugar. Heat on medium heat, stirring constantly until all the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is almost boiling. Remove from the stove and pour into a cold bowl or carton, and leave to cool completely.
- You can simply pour the mixture into a tub and put it in the freezer. However, you will need to stir it regularly as it sets, which will take up to 5 hours. Once the time is up and the ice cream has set, scoop and serve.
